Read authentic texts, not just decodables which are like training wheels. Go to the library every week and let them choose what interests them. Sometimes public libraries have summer reading challenges, a big motivator.

ReadWorks.org is free and has a summer program. Sign up. Student can search by interest. Newsela is also popular.
